I hope you have some familiarity with the BattleTech universe. If you don't, check out the home page of FASA Corporation, the company that created BattleTech in the first place. I'll summarize the universe here in a few sentences, but if your imagination is inspired, or even if you're vaguely interested, you owe it to yourself to read some of the novels of this series.

General History Timeline of the BattleTech Universe FASA have set up a series of timelines that outlines the history of the BattleTech universe. It's not the best way to get introduced to the world, as it's not a proper story. Still, it's pretty interesting, and if you just want a quick overview of the events, then it's great stuff.
